Take Mom to Branson’s “Wheelmobile Event” for Mother’s Day?

May 1st, 2009 by gary

Along with all the other ways to celebrate Mothers Day, those Moms in Branson on May 9 and 10 can celebrate by trying to win a spot on the “Wheel of Fortune. Its “Wheelmobile.” It will be in Branson at the Welk Resort Theatre between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on May 9 and 10 conducting “the preliminary screening process before the final Wheel of Fortune contestant auditions.”

According to the most recent information received from the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce each day there will be three “Wheel of Fortune Shows” per day with each lasting about one hour. Everyone who comes to the “Wheelmobile” event will receive a color coded card for one of the three shows. To be eligible to be called up on stage the card must be filled in and dropped in the appropriate receptacle prior to the start of the show.

The initial card receptacles will be emptied into a big golden drum sitting on the stage from which the show’s host will randomly pick cards and call contestants up to the stage to play the game. Once on stage, each contestant will receive a brief interview and compete against the other contestants for that game in a version of the “Wheel of Fortune Speed-Up Round.”

Prizes such as in “Wheel of Fortune” hats, t-shirts, etc. will be awarded to all contestants. In addition contestants will be evaluated on, among other things, their game play, energy, and enthusiasm. The information points out that no actual contestants will be chosen, but that the Branson Wheelmobile event will be used, along with final auditions that will take place “within a few months” of the Wheelmobile’s final audition date, to select the contestants who will actually appear on the “Wheel of Fortune.”

In addition, the show saves some of the final audition spots for people who did not make it up on stage at the actual Wheelmobile event. The information indicates that after all the Wheelmobile events have been conducted they “Will draw a number of names at random from all the applications received at the Wheelmobile eventsfor these slots.” Anyone that is invited to the final auditions will receive a letter or email within a few weeks of the last Wheelmobile Event.

A spokesperson for the Welk Resort Theatre confirmed there is no charge to attend the shows and that no preregistration is necessary. Seats to the event will be given on a first come first serve basis.
