Neal McCoy joins Branson’s Yakov Smirnoff for charity

A report published in the June 10, 2009 edition of the Branson Courier entitled, “Neal McCoy in limited Branson engagement” states that McCoy, a two time entertainer of the year superstar, will be performing a limited engagement at “Yakov’s Theatre” in Branson, Missouri at 8:00 p.m. on selected dates from June 16 through November 1. McCoy, who has received numerous awards for his music and entertaining, has also been recognized for his humanitarian endeavors.

He has received awards for his work with the USO entertaining U.S. Armed Forces both domestically and overseas. From Bosnia to Afghanistan and Iraq, McCoy has made 13 USO Tours. He is involved with many charitable endeavors, one of which is the East Texas Angel Network established by McCoy and his wife, Melinda. Since its establishment in 1995 it has raised more than five million dollars for the medical treatment of the children of East Texas having terminal or life-threatening diseases.

According to the report, McCoy’s first four Branson performances will be used to raise money for local charities and will include special performances by Yakov Smirnoff. Each of those nights has been dedicated to a specific charity with June 16 for “Make A Wish;” June 17, “Special Olympics;” June 18, “American Heart Association” and June 21, “American Red Cross.”

Yakov says, “Neal McCoy and I are a great team because Neal McCoy has three platinum albums and I have four…Celine Dion’s, Cher’s, Garth Brooks’, and Frank Sinatra’s.”

[McCoy] “I like to entertain and have a great time with the folks. Here in Branson people know how to have a good time! So that’s what we’re planning on doing and you gotta love that.”
